CEREC® Single-Visit Crowns
Prompt, Effective Dental Restorations in Bellingham, WA
When cavities or trauma eat away at the structure of a tooth, a dental crown can rebuild its structural health. When teeth are cracked, fractured or damaged, a dental crown can strengthen and improve the function of a tooth. By using effective dental technology and his unique skill set, our dentist helps you receive a capable restoration in a timely manner. Robert Chester, DDS, designs CEREC® single-visit dental crowns for patients from Bellingham, Ferndale, Blaine, and all other Whatcom County communities.
Most dentists cannot craft a dental restoration at their practice. After diagnosing the need for a crown, they can take the impressions that will be used to make a crown. However, they must then send these to a dental laboratory, where the prosthetic will be fabricated. Even if they had a tool like CEREC at their disposal, they do not always have the experience and technical proficiency required to use it with optimal efficiency.
Not only does our restorative dentist in Bellingham have the tools to create a crown, but his technical proficiency means the crowns he makes also have a high quality.
CEREC® uses a sophisticated CAD/CAM system for producing all ceramic inlays, onlays, partial crowns, veneers and crowns for anterior and posterior teeth. These high-quality CEREC® restorations can also be used on bridges and dental implant crowns.
Same Day Restoration CEREC®
Creating CEREC® crowns means no more conventional impressions, temporary crowns or long waiting periods. CEREC® uses a 3D camera to capture the image of the tooth and then scans the prepared tooth in just a few seconds. This eliminates the need for any unpleasant impressions. CEREC® restorations are milled out of a solid ceramic block in less than fifteen minutes. This eliminates the need for temporary crowns. Your crown can be fabricated in one appointment, which means no waiting for the lab to deliver your crown. Dr. Chester will be delighted to explain how he designs your crown on the computer and you can even watch your crown being made on the CEREC® high-tech milling machine.
Before becoming a dentist, Dr. Chester worked as a dental lab technician. He fabricated crowns and other oral prosthetics for many years, giving him the unique understanding needed to create the porcelain restoration that best serves your specific needs. Additionally, Dr. Chester has always kept up with cutting-edge technology through continuing education courses. He uses his background in dental technology, design, and photography to enhance the quality of your CEREC® crown. The fact that Dr. Chester is both the person understands your need for a crown and the one who develops it means you receive excellent, uninterrupted treatment.
We know your time is valuable, that is why Robert Chester, DDS has chosen to invest in the CEREC® system of creating highly aesthetic tooth-colored crowns that can be designed and placed during a single dental appointment.
Sending crowns to a dental laboratory will produce effective results, which is why we still do so in certain circumstances. However, the simple logistics of sending impressions to a lab and having the lab send the crowns back means that this traditional approach could take two weeks.
Dr. Chester’s expert use of the CEREC system makes this process take less than an hour.
CEREC is a combination of a computer-aided design software and a computer-aided milling device designed for use by dentists. This means that any dentist, especially one as skilled with prosthetics as Dr. Chester, can preplan a crown’s design as soon as an examination has been completed and begin the fabrication process mere moments later. Within the same appointment as your dental issues were diagnosed, you can have that same crown added to your teeth.
